PDF to Flashcards: A Study Workflow That Covers the Whole Document

· 5 min

Many tools only read the first few pages of a PDF. For a 200-page textbook, that means flashcards on chapter 1 while the exam covers the whole book. Full-document chunking sends each section to the model so cards reflect the entire syllabus.

Recommended workflow

  1. Upload the PDF and confirm character/page stats after extraction.
  2. Generate a deck — expect 20–40 cards for a typical university chapter set.
  3. Review with "hard cards only" filter after the first pass.
  4. Run an oral exam on the same material to connect recall with explanation.

When flashcards are not enough

If the exam is oral, cards alone train recognition. Pair them with spoken answers so you can explain concepts in complete sentences under pressure.
